Television networks love to take long-running, successful shows and help them launch spin-off or companion series that can also bring in good ratings. Last season, The CW tried to do this with Supernatural, in the hopes of creating a new spin-off series dubbed Supernatural: Bloodlines, but the plan failed miserably as neither fans nor network executives were fans of the backdoor pilot that aired as an episode of Supernatural Season 9.
